Most common eczema in product:

Question by 11456!!: Does severe baby eczema has a much better opportunity of clearing up during toddlerhood?
My daughter is presently 7.5 months old and developed eczema at around 6 weeks. She had a extremely bad case of eczema and we use all natural approaches plus a corticosteroid (Cutivate – .05% lotion) to preserve it under control.

I read somewhere that younger infants who have severe eczema has a far better probability of outgrowing it throughout the toddler years. I was questioning how far this is true based on your experiences.

Thanks for your support.

My daughter had eczema, it would come & go from the time she was a baby up until about 1 1/2. She’s about 2 now & in the past 6 mos it has cleared up tremendously. We would use Aveeno baby wash & lotion for eczema as nicely as cortisone creme.

My son’s story is still being written, but his eczema has improved a little–or at least his IgE score has gone down in the last few months. His eczema is caused by irritation in his gut, which was caused by pathogenic bacteria replacing the good bacteria. We have been doing massive probiotics for over a year, but the only kind that have showed any results are the InfaSkin ones. Not sure why they cause improvement while others don’t, but I am happy they work!

He also has lots of allergies, so many that he is on a very strict diet. I take his food everywhere and rarely let him try anything new. Lately he has been much clearer. Whether this is due to the antibiotics he took last month for bronchitis that killed off some of the pathogenic bacteria, or whether the consistent use of the Renew lotion has made his skin less susceptible to breakouts, I really can’t say. Or whether he’s just starting to outgrow some of his sensitivities. In his case, though, it could really be a combination of all factors.

Personally, I think that there is always a cause. Most people don’t discover the root cause of their baby’s eczema. Eventually the body heals or the cause is removed, and the now toddler improves or cures completel. It doesn’t always happen, though, which is why we have chosen to be proactive and see a naturopath who specializes in gastrointestinal issues. All real improvement (meaning not steroid induce) he has had since we first went to see him.

I hope things get better for you! You have all my sympathies!

My first daughter had it, and it gave me a run for my money. We could not figure out what it was from. We went through doctor after doctor, and they all prescribed the same cortisone creams, and told me to use non soap-soaps (i.e Cetaphil, you can find it at big box stores), soap is very drying to the skin. She ended up getting a ‘ontop of the skin, under the eczema’ staph infection because she scratched so badly. Finally they gave her Hydroxyzine, (generic – Atarax), basically an oral ‘sedative’ to help her sleep, and stop itching. She’s 3 now, and has very little of it, no more meds, just cream. Now I have an 8 month old baby girl, and she is even more covered in it than the first. She also has Infantigo (an infant form of impetigo) on her head. So she is on Desonide (for sensitive areas), and Triamcinolone, plus the Hydroxyzine. Don’t give baths too often, every other/2 days is fine. Always, use lotion to keep the skin moisturized. Cetaphil has the whole line from wash to lotion to bar soap.

I am sorry to hear that
Yes based what i have found on research, but keep remind that she will get better if you choose the right things to do.
The common mistake many parents make while trying to cure baby eczema is that they rely mainly on prescribed medications that only suppress the symptoms but won’t eliminate the underlying cause
Please don’t take any medication except natural to cure your baby, as babies are more prone to allergies and more sensitive to medications than adults, only natural remedies should be used in baby eczema treatment.

Prevention can be very well achieved by keeping personal hygiene well. One has to keep baby’s body clean. Herbal disinfectant powder is to be sprinkled over the baby’s body. The clothes of the baby are to be changed and the material is to be very smooth (preferably 100% cotton).
Note down if your baby gets the rashes over the body after eating certain food. This food is then considered as allergic to the baby and therefore is to be avoided. Eczema can be treated by giving topical ointment and internal medicines that is anti-histamine. Some of the severe cases are treated with steroids but with extra precautions and perfect doses.

Hope this help you, Good luck!
