wow, you sound just like me. nicely, i know that occasionally when im really upset or nervous or stressed i can break out in hives, but i also have realized that late at night, usually an hour or so before i go to bed i just get actual itchy everywhere and little hives have popped up. i know im allergic to the sun and i break out in hives from that so i utilised to just connect the two, but ive now learned that they are not connected. im sorry although, i do not know the reason why they happen, but like im going to do in the next week or so, go see a physician and they can figure one thing out.

They can be caused by nerves, but allergies are the most common cause.

Could be allergies…if only at nite and assuming you sleep in bed…perhaps have you new laundry detergent or sheets??

Perhaps fleas?? I know it sounds crazy but perhaps you have a pet w/ fleas?? This happened to me many years ago… we had a flea infestation after watching a friends dog for a week. Turns out I was allergic to fleas and they are active at nite.

    Good luck!

In addition to allergies, hives can also be associated with alcoholism, stress, anemia, and other nutritional deficiencies.

It could be heat rash. Is your bedroom too warm? It may help to get a fan for the bedroom to circulate the air.

Hives are a main symptom of an allergic reaction. Seeing as how you get it at night a lot, could it be the dtergent you use to wash your sheets and bedding? There are many avenues to persue here due to it being an allergic reaction. Do you take Benadryl and/or Prednisone regularly? They should help. I would suggest seeing an Allergist in your case. One would hate to go through life not knowing what will cause you an allergy and ruin a good time.

There can be many reasons for hives. There are medical conditions, but anxiety, stress, tension and allergies are the most common reasons for them. See if you can try to figure out any reasons that you may be stressed, anxious, depressed, tense, etc. That may help to rectify the problem. Somehow, understanding why you may be getting them can make them go away on their own. Try using benedryl cream and pills. Those often help. If they don’t work, see your doctor.

Most reactions in your body are caused by stress, either physical or mental. Allergies are a reaction to stress as are hives. Imagine when you get upset about something the tears well up and you cry, it’s your body creating a physical reaction to a stressful situation. Same with allergies & hives. Some days you can feel great and you won’t react to something you’re allergic to and other days (eg. when you have the flu) you’ll react to everything because your body is under extreme stress. The best way to deal with any of these things is to control the stress. Spend more time alone breathing in & out, don’t let little things get to you. (say to yourself “if I stress out about this, will it really make a difference?”)
I had severe allergies that lasted about 6 years. I went to every specialist available & it cost me a fortune but none could help. Then my very open minded GP suggested meditation. It took about 2 years and lots of effort on my part. I now have no rashes anywhere, (I used to be covered so badly that I’ve still got scars all over me from bleeding) my asthma is gone & I only get hayfever very occasionally which can be controlled by taking tissue salts (all natural). I rarely get sick or get colds now. I know how to relax and am much happier in myself.
If you choose to try this, go to an introductory class somewhere like a TAFE College, don’t go to a “meditation centre” it’s all a bit too full-on and will probably scare you off after the first session. I’m not “into” alternative medicine, I just know it worked for me and I hope this helps you too. Good luck.
